ERP Selection Guide for Mid-Size Companies: SAP vs Odoo vs Dynamics vs Building Custom

Most ERP selection articles are written by companies that sell one of the options. We implement SAP Business One, Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and we also build custom ERPs when none of the above fit. Our recommendation depends entirely on your case.

Quick Decision Framework

Which ERP fits your company:

  • SAP Business One: if you are a 50-500 employee manufacturer or distributor with complex supply chains and need a bullet-proof, auditable system
  • Odoo: if you want maximum flexibility, open source, and are comfortable with customization. Best value for money for growing companies
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365: if your company already runs on Microsoft (Teams, 365, Azure) and wants deep integration across the stack
  • Custom ERP: if your process is genuinely unique, you have tried all three above, and the workarounds cost more than building

The Real Cost Nobody Tells You

The license is 20% of the total cost. Implementation, data migration, training, and the first year of adjustments are the other 80%. Any vendor that quotes you just the license fee is hiding the real number.

We have no vendor partnerships or referral commissions. When we recommend Odoo over SAP or custom over Dynamics, it is because it fits your case, not because we earn a kickback.
